Asahi Group Restarts Production in Japan 10 Days After Cyberattack

Japanese beverage and food conglomerate Asahi Group Holdings announced that production has resumed at all of its factories nationwide, although system disruptions caused by a recent cyberattack remain unresolved more than ten days later.

The ransomware incident on September 29 led to widespread outages across Asahi’s group companies, halting operations and disrupting business systems.

Earlier this week, a hacker collective known as Qilin claimed responsibility for the breach on the dark web, asserting that it had gained access to the company’s network and stolen sensitive data.

Asahi confirmed on Wednesday that information believed to have originated from the company has been discovered online.

Due to the ongoing system failure, Asahi’s subsidiaries have been unable to process orders, manage shipments, or respond to customer inquiries. The disruption also forced a temporary halt in beer and beverage production at many of the company’s 30 domestic facilities.
