Red Hat data breach due to Red Hat Consulting GitLab instance

Red Hat has reported a security incident involving a specific GitLab environment used by its Consulting team. The company emphasized that protecting the security and integrity of its systems and data remains a top priority and that immediate action was taken.

According to Red Hat, unauthorized access was detected in a GitLab instance used for internal collaboration on several consulting projects. Once the intrusion was discovered, access was promptly revoked, the environment was isolated, and the relevant authorities were notified. The ongoing investigation indicates that a third party copied data from this environment.

Red Hat has since implemented additional security measures to prevent any further unauthorized access.

Some sources suggest that more than 500GB of data may have been stolen, though Red Hat has not confirmed this claim.
